Tacoma Power's New Construction Program will help you save from the beginning.
The design and planning stage offers the greatest opportunity to conserve energy and save money on utility bills. Well-designed projects are more comfortable and demand less from the environment.
Tacoma Power created our business incentives to pay for up to the entire added cost of energy-efficiency enhancements - those beyond the Washington State Energy Code. When we help with your new construction or major renovation project, you'll be able to easily identify and prioritize efficiency opportunities.
Equipment rebates help offset the upfront cost of specific energy-efficient equipment and are ideal for smaller buildings. Eligible equipment includes:
• Air-conditioning equipment
• Heat pumps
Custom incentives are available for a variety of efficiency improvements, such as:
• Efficient lighting fixtures, lamps and controls
• Efficient mechanical systems, such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)
• Efficient building shell – insulation and glazing
Tacoma Power’s custom incentive is 20 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) saved in the first year, up to 100% of the incremental cost of the efficiency improvements (the cost of the improvements beyond the cost of a baseline Washington State Energy Code installation).
Include us in your building design as early as possible. That way, we can provide technical and design review to help you identify the best opportunities for saving money and energy - both in the short term and in the long run.
Design team incentives
We may also provide additional cash incentives for building designers and owners whose efficiency projects save 25% or more beyond the Washington State Energy Code. To qualify, projects must be at least 30,000 square feet. Customers must provide an energy analysis projecting efficiency results.
