Upgrading to energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment can help your business use 40% less electricity and significantly reduce your electric bills. To make upgrading more affordable for you, we offer the following rebates:

HVAC Rebate Options

Ductless heat pump

  • Upgrade from any primary heat source
    • $300 per ton
  • Retrofit from electric resistance primary heat source
    • $1,000 per ton

Air Source Heat Pump 

  • Upgrade
    • $150/ton
  • Retrofit
    • $1000/ton

Packaged Terminal Heat Pump 

  • Retrofits only 
    • $450/unit

Variable frequency drive 

  • Retrofits only
    • $470/horsepower on air handling unit fans
    • $230/per horsepower for pumps

Variable refrigerant flow 

  • Retrofits only
    • $400 per ton.

Web-connected thermostat

  • $150 per unit for connected thermostat with electric heat
  • $50 per unit for connected thermostat for electric air conditioning

If your company is interested in a large-scale energy-efficiency upgrade, consider our Custom Retrofit Program, which could cover up to 70% of the project cost. Contact us at bizrebates@tacoma.gov prior to installation for any custom retrofit projects.

Rebate Eligibility Details

  • New, qualifying equipment must be installed in a business location within Tacoma Power’s service territory.
  • Technical specs and requirements are listed on the rebate form.
  • Please see the rebate application for specific qualifications.

How to apply for equipment rebates and incentives

Equipment rebate projects can be submitted before the project happens or within 180 days of the equipment installation. 

To ensure you’re installing eligible equipment, contact our experts at 253-502-8619 or bizrebates@tacoma.gov to discuss your project and eligible equipment.  

You can also submit your application to see if your project qualifies. 

Include a quote or final invoice with your submission.
