Upgrade your business lighting to reduce energy use, lower maintenance costs, and improve your space.

Tacoma Power’s Bright Rebates program can help cover the cost of qualifying LED lighting and control upgrades, including up to 100% of installed project costs for eligible small business projects.

Bright Rebates Program Requirements

  • You must be a Tacoma Power customer served by a business rate.
  • You must submit an application with the required documents and receive our approval before starting your project.
  • Eligible upgrades include:
    • Upgrading from T12, T8, or T5 to LED lamps, fixtures, or retrofit kits.
    • Upgrading from HID to LED.
    • Replacing high-wattage LED with LED.
    • Switching exit signs to LED.
    • Installing occupancy sensors and lighting controls (excluding code-required exterior photocells).
  • LED fixtures and lamps must be listed on one of the following approved lists:

How to get your rebate

  1. Contact Us Before Starting

    Contact the Bright Rebates team at BrightRebates@tacoma.gov to discuss your project and available rebate options. You may also contact Jeff Gascoyne at 253-677-8761 or Ryan Kim at 253-278-4030 for program support.

    We will verify your business rate (Class B or G/HVG), which is required for the application

  2. Review the Project Checklist

    Review our new Project Checklist prior to submitting a Bright Rebates Project.

  3. Submit Your Project

    Complete the lighting workbook and submit it with the required equipment specifications, layouts, drawings, and photos of existing conditions.

  4. Wait For Approval Before Installation

    Once the project is approved and the customer agreement is signed, you will receive an approval notice to proceed with your installation.

  5. Complete Your Project and Send Final Documentation

    Submit copies of the project invoices after installation (preferably showing equipment part numbers and quantities). Add any items to the final project cost, including materials, disposal, labor, lift rentals, etc.

    Submit photos of the project per the instructions in the Checklist document.

Payment is subject to the rebate terms and conditions. Tacoma Power reserves the right to verify sales transactions and inspect installations before issuing rebates. Incorrect or incomplete information may delay or cancel rebate processing.
