Overview
Installing energy-efficient windows can lower your utility bills and make your home more comfortable year-round. If your house has electric heat and either single-pane windows or double-pane metal windows, upgrading will help conserve energy and save you a significant amount of money each year.
Window Replacement Rebate Details*
For Properties with Single-Pane Windows:
Residential properties up to four units per building may qualify for a rebate of $100 per window to replace existing single-pane windows with windows rated at .30 U-value or lower when installed by a Tacoma Power Participating Contractor.
For Properties with Double-Pane Metal Windows:
Residential properties up to four units per building may qualify for a rebate of $50 per window to replace existing double-pane metal framed windows with windows rated at .30 U-value or lower when installed by a Tacoma Power Participating Contractor.
Rebates are available for residential properties with five or more units per building with existing single-pane and double-pane metal framed windows when installed by a Tacoma Power Participating Contractor. View application here.

Not Eligible:
- New construction
- Manufactured homes
Please note that customers must use a Tacoma Power Participating Contractor to be eligible for either a rebate or loan, or a rebate and deferred loan.
Window Replacement Loan Details
We offer a seven-year, zero-interest loan of up to $25 per square foot for replacement of single-pane windows and double-pane metal windows in residential properties. You must have good TPU payment and credit history to be eligible.
Loan Requirements
- Existing windows must be single-pane windows or double-pane metal windows
- Your primary heat source must be electric
- Work must be completed by a Tacoma Power Participating Trade Ally
Not Eligible
- Manufactured homes
- Properties with 5+ units in the building
Window Replacement Deferred Loan Details
Based on your income, you may be eligible to receive a deferred loan of up to $25 per square foot, in addition to the rebates, for the replacement of single-pane windows or double-pane metal windows in owner-occupied homes.
Deferred Loan Requirements
- Home must be occupied by owner
- Your primary heat source must be electric
- Homeowner must submit a Deferred Loan Application complete with supporting documents including income information
- Work must be installed by a Tacoma Power Participating Contractor
Not Eligible
- Properties with 5+ units in the building
- Manufactured homes
