Mayfield Lake Park offers year-round outdoor recreation along the shores of Mayfield Lake in Lewis County.

Visitors can enjoy swimming, boating, picnicking, and camping, with amenities that include a swimming beach, boat launch, picnic areas, playgrounds, and group-use facilities. The lake is formed by Mayfield Dam, part of Tacoma Power’s hydropower system that generates clean, renewable electricity while supporting public recreation.

Camping at Mayfield Lake Park is closed between Oct. 16 – April 14. During the fall season (between Sept. 16 and Oct. 15) and the spring season (between April 14 and May 14), our individual campsites are walk-in only (first-come, first-served; reservations are not available).

Camping Without a Reservation

Some campsites are available without a reservation, depending on the time of year.

  • May 15–Sept. 15:
    Unreserved campsites may be available for one-night walk-in stays.

  • Spring and fall shoulder seasons:

    • April 15–May 14

    • Sept. 16–Oct. 15
      During these periods, all individual campsites are walk-in only and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Seasonal closure:
    Camping is closed Oct. 16–April 14.

Amenities and Recreation

Mayfield Lake Park offers seasonal camping and year-round recreation on the shores of Mayfield Lake in Lewis County. The park includes a day-use area and boat launch open during daylight hours, with camping available from April 15 through October 15.

Park amenities include:

  • 54 individual campsites with water and electric hookups

  • 12-site group camp (open Memorial Day weekend–Sept. 15)

  • Reservable kitchen shelter

  • Picnic tables and fire rings or barbecue grills at all campsites

  • Coin-operated showers

  • Wheelchair-accessible campsites and restrooms

Recreation opportunities:

  • Swimming area
  • Playground
  • Horseshoe pits
  • Volleyball court
  • Year-round fishing for trout, bass, and coho salmon
  • Motorized boating permitted on Mayfield Lake

 

Day Use

Day-use parking costs $10 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.

  • Extra vehicle, if space allows (no charge for towed vehicles) – $15
  • Extra vehicle season pass – $150

Driving Directions

From Tacoma, take I-5 south to Highway 12 East (Exit 68). Drive east on Highway 12 for about 17 miles. Turn left on Beach Road and drive a quarter of a mile to the park entrance.

An alternate route from Tacoma is to take Highway 7 south to Morton. At Morton, turn right onto Highway 12. Continue on Highway 12 to Beach Road, about 14 miles. Turn right and continue on Beach Road to the park entrance.
