Discovering the cost of your electricity use at home is as easy as checking out a book. Tacoma Power offers an energy use monitor you can check out free from any Pierce County or Tacoma Public library.

The monitor shows how much electricity your appliances and electronics use, the estimated cost of using them and their impact on the environment.

You can use the monitor to determine your electricity use by day, week, month and year. It even reveals how much electricity is being used when your appliances and electronics are plugged in but not being used.

The monitor is simple enough for kids to try, too.  Ask your librarian for details.
