Taidnapam Park

Tacoma Power’s Taidnapam Park is a forested campground on Riffe Lake in Lewis County. Riffe Lake was formed by Mossyrock Dam, part of Tacoma Power’s hydropower system that generates clean, renewable electricity while supporting public recreation.

Boat launch access, swim areas, and lake levels may vary throughout the year. Get information about day-use and boat launch availability.

Visitors should be aware of heavy log truck traffic on Champion Haul Road leading to the park.

Please note: the lower parking lot is limited to passenger vehicles only. Trailers and oversized vehicles are not permitted.

Camping at Taidnapam Park

Individual campsites

  • 163 individual campsites, including:

    • 96 with water, electric, and sewer hookups

    • 43 with water and electric hookups

    • 24 walk-in tent sites

Group camps

  • One group camp with 22 sites and hookups

  • One primitive group camp with 12 sites

  • Four group sites with water and electric hookups


Amenities

  • Coin-operated showers

  • Wheelchair-accessible restrooms

  • All campsites include fire rings and picnic tables


Reminder

Please help protect the Taidnapam Park septic system:

    • Do not use RV holding tank chemicals

    • Use ventilation and air fresheners

    • Empty tanks often

    • Flush the holding tank each time it is dumped

Please note: All parks are closed Dec. 20 – Jan. 1. Learn more about availability, reservations, and fees. 

Day Use Information
  • Parking fee: A $10 parking fee is charged on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
  • Parking availability: When day-use parking areas are full, additional visitors may be turned away until spaces become available.

  • Seasonal closure: Dec. 20–Jan. 1

  • Boat launches: Two boat launches are available year-round, lake level permitting.

Driving Directions

Taidnapam Park is about 110 miles south of Tacoma in Lewis County, near the town of Morton. From Tacoma, take I-5 south to Highway 12 East (Exit 68). Drive east on Highway 12 for approximately 37 miles (5 miles past Morton). Turn right on Kosmos Road, then left onto Champion Haul Road. Drive approximately four miles to the park entrance.

An alternate route from Tacoma is to take Highway 7 south to Morton. At Morton, turn left onto Highway 12 and drive 5 miles. Turn right on Kosmos Road, then left onto Champion Haul Road. Drive approximately four miles to the park entrance.
