Installing Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations on your multifamily property offers an attractive amenity for current and future tenants, shows the community and your tenants your commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, and supports the reduction of harmful emissions while improving local air quality by encouraging the use of EVs.

Funding amounts to support electric vehicle charging projects within the City of Tacoma are subject to change.

If your project site is located within the City of Tacoma and in one of these historically underinvested areas: 98465 (east of S. Jackson Ave), 98418, 98409, 98408, 98404, 98402 (south of Division), 98444, 98445 and 98405 (east of Cedar), and built before the year 2000 or accepts Section 8, your project may qualify for:

  • Up to 100% or $20,000 for your first two charging ports or one dual head charger, and installation;
  • Up to 100% or $25,000 of utility infrastructure upgrades;
  • And up to $2,000 for each additional charging port.

OR

If your project site is located within the City of Tacoma, but does not meet the above criteria, you may qualify for:

  • Up to 80% or $16,000 for your first two charging ports or one dual head charger, and installation;
  • Up to 100% or $25,000 of utility infrastructure upgrades;
  • And up to $2,000 for each additional charging port.

How to start your project

We received funding to support electric vehicle charging projects within the City of Tacoma. The utility will allocate funds for the installation of electric vehicle charging at multifamily properties. Act now, funding is limited and will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Expires December 15, 2021.
