Women’s water tapping team highlighted on KING5

Tacoma Water’s women’s tapping team was featured on KING5 this past week, two days after winning the PNW AWWA conference title. Julie LaVergne, Jen Routh and Kim Edwards took KING5 reporter Ted Land through the process of tapping a water line. Shantel Shepard was still in Vancouver for the conference, so Phil Gause from the men’s team stepped in to fill the void.

“He holds his own, but she does it running around in a skirt too,” Routh told Land, when the reporter asked her about Gause’ performance.

The story came, after the tapping team took home KING5’s “Community High Five” which begged the station to ask the question, “what is tapping?”
