June 29, 2026

Last week, Tacoma Power employees recovered one Winter-run Steelhead, 286 Spring Chinook adults, 94 Spring Chinook jacks, 380 Spring Chinook mini jacks, and 156 Summer-run Steelhead over five days of operations at the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery separator.

During the past week, Tacoma Power employees released 107 Spring Chinook adults, 17 Spring Chinook jacks, and one winter-run Steelhead into Lake Scanewa at the Day Use Park near Randle and they released 26 Spring Chinook adults and 17 Spring Chinook jacks into Lake Scanewa at the Copper Canyon release site. In addition, Tacoma Power employees released 44 Spring Chinook adults and 23 Spring Chinook jacks into the Cispus River near Yellowjacket Creek. In addition, they released 63 Spring Chinook adults and 21 Spring Chinook jacks at Franklin Bridge in Packwood.

As of Friday, June 26, 2026, Tacoma Power has recycled 343 Summer-run Steelhead and five Spring Chinook adults this season to the I-5 boat launch in Toledo.

River flow below Mayfield Dam is 3,560 cubic feet per second on Monday, June 29, 2026. Water visibility is 12 feet and water temperature is 50.5 (F). River flows could change at any time so boaters and anglers should remain alert for this possibility.
