Group Camping Reservations


Play and stay together at our group camps

Campers who play together can also stay together at Tacoma Power's four parks!

  • Campground check-in begins at 2:30 p.m. Check-out is at 1 p.m.

Mossyrock Park group camp (open April 15 - Oct. 15)

  • Nine pods of five or six sites with or without electric hookups
  • Two primitive group camps (12 sites, no hookups)

Mayfield Lake group camp (open Memorial Day through Oct. 15)

  • 12 sites, including three with water/electric hookups

Taidnapam Park (open April 15 - Oct. 15)

How much does it cost to change or cancel?

Reserving group sites at Alder Lake Park (open April 15 - Oct. 15)

  • Download, complete and return a Reservation Request Form
  • Pick up a reservation request form at the park (or call the park for a form - numbers below)
  • Pick up a reservation request form at Tacoma Public Utilities 
    Sorry, we aren't able to accept forms or payments for group camps at this location
Maps and photos

To give everyone a fair chance at a reservation at Alder Lake Park:

  • Reservations can be made after Jan. 1 for that year's camping dates
  • Dropped-off applications are treated as mail
  • Multiple applications received on the same business day are randomly drawn

Confirmations at Alder Lake Park

  • You will receive a confirmation by mail if sites are available for the dates you requested.
  • We'll return your form and deposit if the group camp is already booked.

Changes and cancellations at Alder Lake Park
If you change or cancel some of your sites 14 or fewer days in advance, you must pay for all the sites you reserved, even if you don't use all of them.

Group Camp Features


Alder Lake Park

Two areas - water, electric and sewer hookups

  • You must reserve at least five sites
  • Kitchen shelters include barbecue grills, a sink and electrical outlets
  • For sites 101-120, you may reserve the large kitchen shelter, if available, for one meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) per day
  • For sites 131-145, one small kitchen shelter is available for each five-site area
  • Horseshoe pits and playground
  • Picnic tables and fire rings at each site, plus community fire rings
  • Restroom with showers


Mossyrock Park

Main group camp - nine pods with electric hookups or no hookups

  • Reserve a pod of five or six sites
  • Kitchen shelter includes fireplace/barbecue grills, sinks and electrical outlets
  • You may reserve the kitchen shelter, if available, for one meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) per day (only for the main group camp)
  • Horseshoe pits, a volleyball area and restroom with showers
  • Community water stations, fire rings and picnic tables

Two primitive group camps - no hookups

  • You must reserve all 12 sites
  • Picnic tables
  • Community fire ring
  • Water available
  • One area has a vault toilet, no showers
  • Other area is located by a restroom with showers


Mayfield Lake Park

Group camp - with three water/electric hookups

  • You must reserve all 12 sites
  • Group camp is separate from the other camping areas
  • Kitchen shelter in group camp area is free of charge
  • Restrooms with showers


Taidnapam Park

Main group camp - water, electric and sewer hookups (four sites with partial hookups)

  • You must reserve all 22 sites
  • Campers who reserve this group camp have exclusive use of the kitchen shelter
  • Kitchen shelter includes barbecue grills, sinks and electrical outlets
  • Horseshoe pits and volleyball area
  • Restroom with showers

Primitive group camp - no hookups

  • You must reserve all 12 sites
  • Space for 12 tents
  • Picnic tables and community fire ring
  • Nearby restroom with showers
