Cushman No. 2 Dam

Cushman No. 2 Dam stores water in Lake Kokanee, the smaller of the two reservoirs in the Cushman Hydroelectric Project. Water from Lake Kokanee travels through an approximately 2.5-mile-long tunnel to the Cushman No. 2 Powerhouse near Hood Canal, where it is used to generate renewable electricity.
Completed in 1930, the dam and powerhouse work together with Cushman No. 1 Dam and the North Fork Powerhouse as part of Tacoma Power’s Cushman Hydroelectric Project. Cushman No. 2 has three generators with an installed capacity of 81,000 kilowatts.
The North Fork Powerhouse and fish passage facility at Cushman No. 2 Dam returns water to the North Fork Skokomish River while generating electricity and provides passage for adult salmon and steelhead migrating upstream.
