Ways to reserve group camps at Alder Lake, Mossyrock and Taidnapam parks:
- Download, complete and return the reservation request form
- Visit or contact the park where you want to stay (phone numbers below)
- Pick up a reservation request form at Tacoma Public Utilities
Sorry, we aren't able to accept forms or payments for group camps at this location
To give everyone a fair chance at a reservation:
- Reservations can be made after Jan. 1 for that year's camping dates
- Dropped-off applications are treated as mail.
- Multiple applications received on the same business day are randomly drawn.
Confirmations
- You will receive a confirmation by mail if sites are available for the dates you requested.
- We'll return your form and deposit if the group camp is already booked.
When is group camping open?
- Mossyrock, Taidnapam and Alder Lake parks: between April 15 and Oct. 15.
- Mayfield Lake Park: between Memorial Day weekend and Oct. 15.
- Campground check-in begins at 2:30 p.m. Check out is at 1 p.m.

Group Camp Features
Alder Lake Park
Two areas - water, electric and sewer hookups
- You must reserve at least five sites
- Kitchen shelters include barbecue grills, a sink and electrical outlets
- For sites 101-120, you may reserve the large kitchen shelter, if available, for one meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) per day
- For sites 131-145, one small kitchen shelter is available for each five-site area
- Horseshoe pits and playground
- Picnic tables and fire rings at each site, plus community fire rings
- Restroom with showers
Mossyrock Park
Main group camp - sites with electric hookups and no hookups
- You must reserve at least five sites
- Kitchen shelter includes fireplace/barbecue grills, sinks and electrical outlets
- You may reserve the kitchen shelter, if available, for one meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) per day (only for the main group camp)
- Horseshoe pits, a volleyball area and restroom with showers
- Community water stations, fire rings and picnic tables
Primitive group camp - 12 sites with no hookups
The primitive group camp offers a back-to-the-basics experience for campers.
- You must reserve all 10 sites
- Picnic tables and fire rings in each site
- Water available
- Vault toilet, no showers
Mayfield Lake Park
Primitive group camp - no hookups
- You must reserve all 12 sites
- Group camp is separate from the other camping areas
- Kitchen shelter in group camp area is free of charge
- Restrooms with showers
Taidnapam Park
Main group camp - water, electric and sewer hookups, and partial hookups
- You must reserve at least 10 sites
- Kitchen shelter includes barbecue grills, sinks and electrical outlets
- You may reserve the kitchen shelter, if available, for one meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) per day (only for the main group camp)
- Horseshoe pits and volleyball area
- Restroom with showers
Primitive group camp - no hookups
- You must reserve all 12 sites
- Space for 12 tents
- Picnic tables and community fire ring
- Nearby restroom with showers
