Gravity Pipeline Wells Project

Tacoma Water is upgrading the Gravity Pipeline Wells, located Southwest of 112th St E and 86th Ave E., including replacing well pumps and motors, demolishing existing buildings, and building new ones. We are also adding a corrosion control facility. This project ensures water service reliability from this source, primarily a backup source for situations such as a drought or an earthquake.

March 2024 Update:

Due to the loss of our largest customer, the papermill, we are putting this project on hold and will reevaluate the need for it in the future.

Key project milestones and timeline:

  • Design and permitting – On Hold
  • Surveying – Complete
  • Well testing – Complete
  • Construction – TBD

Upgrades to our Gravity Pipeline Wells will occur on Pipeline Road at the facilities shown in the image below.
