Water Supply Outlook

Conditions in September 2017

Overall, we have a favorable water supply outlook and Green River conditions are near normal.

Our abnormally dry and warm August helped continue that trend through the first half of September. However, in contrast to 2015 and 2016, the basin received above-normal snowpack this year, which provided a healthy inflow of water through the spring and early summer. We achieved full water storage on June 18 and drawdown didn’t start until July 2, which is indicative of the healthy snowpack this year.

Looking ahead, we expect to see heavier rainfall return in October. Some rain is now beginning to fall in the basin as overall weather conditions become cool and wet. We have no water shortage at this time.
