Multifamily & Condo Property Lighting

Quick Links:

Lighting typically makes up 20 to 40% of the electric bill for multifamily properties. High quality energy efficient lighting uses less energy and lasts longer than traditional incandescent and halogen bulbs and fixtures.

With Tacoma Power’s multifamily program, in addition to the monthly savings on your energy bill, you can get a rebate for up to 60% of the lighting project cost.

Tacoma Power offers multifamily and condo properties two types of lighting rebates:

  • Tenant-controlled bulbs - energy efficiency improvements installed in rental units for the benefit of residents. Rebate is to replace incandescent bulb with LED bulb (minimum is 665 lumen).

Rebate amount: $5/bulb

  • Common area lighting, including interior and exterior common areas such as parking, hallways, or clubhouse

Rebate amount:  Please contact us at 253.502.8363 or multifamily@cityoftacoma.org for information about rebate amounts.

Energy savings and project costs will vary. Program requirements and rebate amounts are subject to change without notice. We do not endorse any particular contractor, manufacturer or product. We make no express or implied warranties of these products or installations.

Loans & Grants:  Lighting upgrades are not eligible for zero-interest loans or grants.
