Two sections of our utility, Distribution Engineering and Distribution Operations, work together to manage your water distribution system.

Constructs, inspects, operates and maintains the water distribution system and its facilities including mains, hydrants, services and meters. We provide efficient customer service and support for development throughout our service area. We respond to system emergencies and customer questions and concerns 24 hours per day.

Water Distribution Engineering
Water Distribution Engineering includes: Customer Support; Capital Engineering; Construction and Planning.

Our customer support team helps meet the need for new residential commercial water services, non-fire fighting hydrant rental permits, and water main construction and hydrants for developments.

Capital Engineering is responsible for engineering our capital improvement program. This program primarily includes projects to replace distribution main (24-inch and smaller).

The construction work group includes survey crews and inspection staff for capital construction projects.

Our planning work group supports Tacoma Water’s hydraulic modeling, GIS, computers and use of SAP.
