Efficient Showerheads

You can save more than 550 gallons of water per month just by changing your showerhead.

Efficient showerheads
While new, efficient showerheads can use 1.5 to 2 gallons of water per minute, older showerheads manufactured before 1994 use 2.75 to 8 gallons of water per minute. This means that you can reduce your hot water use by about half by switching to an efficient showerhead. For a typical household that replaced a four gallon per minute showerhead with a two gallon per minute showerhead, this would lead to an average savings of more than 550 gallons of water per month, or more than $3.00 in water and sewer costs – not including power costs to heat water.

Take Shorter Showers

Shortening your 15 to 20-minute shower to five minutes can save you up to $60 a year in water and sewer charges. Plus, depending on how you heat your water, you can save even more on power bills.
