One of the most cost-effective options for saving energy, money and reducuing operation and maintenance costs in your business is upgrading to energy-efficient lighting. You can get:
 
  1. A rebate check for up to 70% of the project cost;
  2. Monthly savings on your electric bill.

Rebates to fit your business needs

Our lighting rebate program offers $0.17 per kWh saved in the first year, up to 70% of the total project cost, when you upgrade to more efficient lighting in your business, including:

  • Incandescent to CFL or LED screw based replacements
  • T12 to T8 linear fluorescent retrofits
  • HID to electronic higher efficiency, to fluorescent or LED
  • Incandescent to LED exit signs
  • Occupancy sensors/lighting controls

Cost-Effectiveness Calculator & Assignment of Funds form workbook  (for contractors) 
You can use the calculator in this workbook to estimate the cost-effectiveness of projects prior to submission, however it does not guarantee approval.

The Assignment of Funds form in this workbook is not required, but can be used if you and the customer want us to send their rebate directly to you (the contractor) upon completion of their project. If you plan to use the Assignment of Funds form, print it, fill it out by hand and submitt it to us after the project has pre-approval.   

HOW TO START
Download and complete the appropriate application. We will conduct an inspection audit of all projects to confirm equipment type and quantity, both pre-and post-installation.
 
  • Provide manufacturer specification sheets for all proposed new equipment (lamps, ballasts, kits and fixtures).
  • Ensure all proposed equipment is listed on one of the approved lists, if required.
  • Email the complete application and specification sheets to BrightRebates@cityoftacoma.org.
Program requirements and rebates are subject to change without notice. Download a new application for each project. We do not endorse any particular contractor, manufacturer or product and make no express or implied warranties of any products.

 

Eligibility

  • Must be a Tacoma Power customer served by a business rate
  • Must submit an application with required documents and obtain project preapproval before you order or buy any materials 
  • T8 lamps and ballasts must be listed by the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) standards for high-performance business lighting systems.
  • CFL bulbs must be on the Energy Star light bulbs approved list.
  • LED fixtures and lamps must be listed on one of the following approved lists:
