Preparing storm debris to be collected at your curb
Break down yard debris to fit inside your City-supplied brown yard waste container or in your own container (34 gallons or smaller, with handles, weighing less than 70 pounds). Separate piles outside of containers will be collected if the debris is bundled properly. Loose branches less than eight inches in diameter should be bundled into three foot lengths; bundles should be light enough for one person to lift.
Items not accepted
Trees, stumps, logs or large pieces of wood (larger than 8 inches in diameter) are not accepted curbside or at the Tacoma Landfill.
Disposing of trees, stumps, logs and large pieces of wood
You may dispose of them at the Tacoma Landfill, but those pieces are considered garbage and you will be charged the normal garbage disposal fees: $10 for the first 400 pounds, and $6.50 per 100-pound increment (exceeding the initial 400 pounds).
Burning storm debris
Do not burn storm debris; outdoor fires are illegal in the City of Tacoma.
Haul your own debris
City of Tacoma residents may dispose of storm debris at the Tacoma Landfill at no charge. There is no limit to the amount of debris you may bring, although there are size limits. Branches and limbs must not exceed 8 feet in length and 8 inches in diameter.
