Get a Bright Rebate

Get paid twice when you install energy-efficient lighting.

Update your building's lighting with new energy-efficient lighting and you'll get paid twice - first with an incentive check and second with your monthly electric bill savings. Incentives may cover up to 70 percent of the project cost.

Updated lighting will also provide an improved look and increased value to your property, better lighting quality and a more comfortable work environment.

Local businesses say . . .
"Participation in Tacoma Power's Bright Rebates program was a very simple and easy process . . . it's gratifying to know that we are not only saving money but significantly reducing our energy needs." Douglas Wolfe, IKEA Property, Frederickson

Incentives to suit your needs
Tacoma Power's Bright Rebates lighting incentives have been expanded to include most energy-efficient lighting technologies, including:

  • T12 to T8 retrofits
  • High intensity discharge (HID) to fluorescent
  • Incandescent to fluorescent or light emitting diode (LED)
  • HID to LED
  • Occupancy sensors/controls on qualified projects

The custom lighting incentive program pays 17 cents per kilowatt-hour saved in the first year, up to 70 percent of the total project cost. Most projects see savings of 20 to 50 percent.

Small commercial lighting program
If you have a smaller lighting improvement in mind, we can help you with that, too. We offer fixed rebate amounts covering many of the more common lighting retrofits. This program offering applies to projects with a total rebate of $7,500 or less.

Requirements
All proposed lamps must meet Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) standards for high-performance commercial lighting systems. That information can be found at www.cee1.org. LED lamps will be approved on a case-by-case basis as determined by Tacoma Power. All projects must be approved by Tacoma Power before materials are ordered.
