Most hot water use in your home comes from faucets and showers, dishwashers and clothes washers. Check out our tips to help you save money and energy:
General
· Lower your water heating costs by reducing the amount of hot water you use. Set the temperature on your water heater to 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
· Repair all water leaks
· Insulate hot water pipes
Laundry
· Wash only full loads of laundry
· Wash white clothes in cold water
· Dry clothes outdoors during the summer
Kitchen
· Run only full loads in your dishwasher
· Don’t let the hot water run while hand washing dishes
· Install low-flow faucet aerators that use a half-gallon to one gallon per minute
Bathroom
· Take showers instead of tub baths
· Reduce showering time to five minutes
· Install low-flow showerheads and sink aerators
