heat pump system program installation requirements

In order for customers to receive a heat pump rebate from Tacoma Power, all heat pump installations should be commissioned, and the ductwork distribution system should be tested and sealed according to Performance Tested Comfort Systems (PTCS) standards. All installation data should be entered into the PTCS database.

Required documentation
These items are required for Tacoma Power rebates for the heat pump or duct testing and sealing:

High-Efficiency Heat Pump System Rebate Application form
• Customer Invoice
• Copy of mechanical permit
• Copy of electrical permit  (fill out the Heat Pump Installation or Upgrade form and submit with application for electrical permit)
• Certificate of ARI-Certified Performance
• Heat Loss Calculation
Heat Pump Balance Point worksheet
• Heating performance data
• Complete and submit the PTCS Heat Pump Commissioning data for this installation to the PTCS database
• Complete and submit the PTCS Duct Testing and Sealing data for this installation to the PTCS database 
PTCS Duct Sealing form
• PTCS Commissioned Heat Pump form

Additional documentation

Some new heat pump systems may create power quality issues for your customers or their neighbors. To determine the potential impact of adding your new heat pump to the electrical transmission system, Tacoma Power asks that you submit a Heat Pump Installation or Upgrade form when applying for an electrical permit.
