There are about 12.5 million televisions being used in the Pacific Northwest - that's a lot of tube. TVs use about four percent of the power in the average household. As TVs get bigger, they consume more energy. As our energy use increases, so does the impact on the environment.
If given a choice, many of us would choose to buy an energy-efficient TV, as long as we didn't have to pay more for it or sacrifice quality or performance. That's where the "Save" program comes in.
TVs that have the "Save" label are at least 30 percent more efficient than standard Energy Star-labeled TVs. If you're considering buying a new TV, look for the "Save" sticker at your local stores. You'll start saving energy and money right away, and you'll help the environment in the long term.
"Save" TVs are available at:
Best Buy
Costco
Kmart
Sears
Walmart
