Anglers and recreationalists who intend to visit the Nisqually River this weekend will notice lower-than-normal river levels. Tacoma Power will reduce flow at Alder and LaGrande dams starting today at 5 p.m. to aid in the search for two people still missing after a boat overturned yesterday.
The lower flow is not expected to adversely impact salmon or other fish in the river.
If the Thurston County Sherriff’s office locates the two missing people before the end of the weekend, Tacoma Power may increase flows and recommends that people use caution when boating, swimming, fishing and taking part in other recreational activities on the river.
For updated information on Nisqually River levels, call Tacoma Power’s Fishing and Recreation Line at (888) 502-8690.
