The annual J.D. Power Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Survey results are out, and Tacoma Power landed in 13th place when measured against 121 utilities of all sizes across the nation.
When compared to other midsized utilities in the west, Tacoma Power ranked 2nd out of 12, trailing only Clark Public Utilities. Tacoma Power ranked 5th in last year’s survey.
“It is an honor to receive this recognition and I am pleased that we have improved so much in the last year,” said Tacoma Public Utilities Director Bill Gaines. “Our employees work very hard to provide high-quality, reliable service to our customers. We are working on new tools and processes to provide even better service and won’t be fully satisfied until we can hit that number one spot.”
The J.D. Power survey measures six components:
- Power quality and reliability
- Price
- Billing and payment
- Corporate citizenship
- Communications
- Customer service
“This coming year we are hoping to count on continued support from our customers as we tackle our budget and identify initiatives that will maintain our reliable, high-quality service,” Gaines said.
