“I pledge to switch 10 incandescent bulbs for 10 CFLs in 2010.”
Tacoma Power is asking people to kick off the New Year by pledging to switch and save money and energy on lighting. When the utility’s customers complete the pledge form on KnowYourPower.com or call 502-8377 to pledge, they’ll receive a special decal in the mail.
Tacoma Power is helping people keep their pledge by offering discounted prices on compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) at local stores, where some sell for under a buck. CFLs:
· Last up to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs
· Use 75 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs
And, using one CFL saves about $30 in electricity costs over a lifetime of use.
Discounted CFLs can be purchased at these stores in the Tacoma Power service area:
· Ace Hardware (South End)
· Ace Hardware Agrishop
· Bartell Drugs
· Bed Bath & Beyond
· Costco
· Ft. Lewis PX
· Fred Meyer
· Home Depot
· Marlene’s Market & Deli
· McChord Air Force Base BX
· Saar’s Market Place
· Summit Trading
· Walgreens
Tacoma Power customers can visit KnowYourPower.com or call 502-8377 to make the pledge, check specific store locations and find out more information about CFLs, saving energy and saving money.
