Click! Cable TV and Safe Streets have partnered to educate the public about how to keep their neighborhoods safe and show how many are doing just that. Locally produced videos share inside views from contributing citizens in this grassroots effort to help make our community a safer place to live. Videos are available to watch through Click!’s Video-On-Demand service any time a customer with a digital receiver wants to view them.
“This partnership is important to Click! as Safe Streets has the potential to benefit every customer, as well as the entire South Sound community,” said Mitch Robinson, Click!’s marketing and business operations manager. “We hope providing Safe Streets’ videos through our on-demand service helps spread their important news.”
Sample videos include:
“Beginnings” – describes the grassroots effort in 1989 of a handful of leaders who asked tough questions of law enforcement, policymakers and business leaders overwhelmed by gang activity in order to create their own safe streets.
“Dennis Flannigan” – unwilling to sit back as Tacoma sank further into drugs and violence, Dennis Flannigan (currently the 27th District’s State Representative) set in motion a series of public events that would harness the power of community collaboration to transform a troubled city. Local leaders speak about Dennis’ ability to organize this community effort.
“2009 Superstars” – more than 400 community leaders joined Safe Streets Campaign to recognize the accomplishments of people who show remarkable commitment to improving community.
“Get to Know Us” –shows how to mobilize a neighborhood and take on projects that build community.
“Thanks for 20 Years” – national and local dignitaries thank Safe Streets for their long-term community support.
“We’re excited to use video to showcase our efforts during the last two decades through this partnership with Click!,” said Priscilla Lisicich, executive director/CEO Safe Streets. “Our staff and volunteers do so much good every single day throughout the county and it’s important we find new ways to highlight their efforts. Our 2009 Superstars video makes me cry every time I watch it.”
Click! On Demand is accessible to Click! Cable TV customers with a digital receiver and is available 24/7.
