A severe windstorm has knocked power out to approximately 54,000 homes in Tacoma Power’s service territory. The majority of outages are in the north and south areas of Tacoma, Lakewood and around the Fredrickson area.

Crews will first restore transmission line outages, which affect the most people, then move to restoring outages in neighborhoods.

The wind continues to knock trees and branches into the lines, so customers whose power is still on should prepare for potential outages by keeping flashlights nearby, unplugging electrical appliances and closing curtains and blinds to keep the heat in.

Tacoma Power customers without power should call (253) 502-8602 to report outages.
