Former Seattle City Light Strategic Advisor Lisa Rennie is now Tacoma Public Utilities’ new sustainability policy manager.

Rennie will work toward continuing Tacoma Public Utilities’ sustainability efforts while it efficiently and effectively provides utility services to customers. She will help set sustainability goals and work to ensure that the organization meets them. Rennie also will participate in policy and legislative discussions related to climate change and other environmental impact areas. She will serve as the liaison to the City of Tacoma General Government’s Sustainability Office.

“We had a number of outstanding candidates for this position,” said Tacoma Public Utilities Director Bill Gaines. “Lisa’s understanding of environmental issues, coupled with her extensive knowledge of the utility industry made her the perfect choice for the job. Environmental sustainability is an important component of Tacoma Public Utilities, so having someone on board to manage our efforts and help keep track of the constantly changing mandates will be a real plus.”

Rennie worked for Seattle City Light for more than 12 years. She served as a strategic advisor for governmental and legislative affairs, focusing specifically on energy policy. Rennie earned her Master of Arts degree from Seattle University and graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She began her career in the Washington State Senate, worked for the state House of Representatives and served as the member services director for the Washington Public Utility Districts Association.
