We understand the immediate and long-term value of building energy efficiency into your new home. No one can project or control the cost of energy in the future. The only hedge we have against future spiraling energy costs is to use less energy by building energy efficiency into our homes.

We realize that there are many demands on the budget for your new home. We also realize that energy-efficient products are often more expensive to purchase. To help offset the additional cost of more energy efficient products, Tacoma Power offers a variety of rebates for your new home.

Energy-efficient lighting
If you purchase and install an ENERGY STAR qualifying light fixture from a participating local lighting distributor, Tacoma Power will give you an instant $20 per fixture rebate from the distributor at the time of purchase.

If you install ENERGY STAR qualifying light fixtures in 60 percent or more of the available indoor light fixtures, Tacoma Power will give you a $150 Advanced Lighting Package rebate for each house.

Energy-efficient electric water heaters
If you install an energy-efficient electric water heater in your new home, Tacoma Power will give you a $75 rebate. To qualify, the water heater must have an Energy Factor of .93 or greater and carry a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.

High-efficiency heat pump systems
If you install a high-efficiency heat pump system, Tacoma Power will give you a $400 rebate. To qualify, the heat pump must be commissioned and meet minimum efficiency standards for heating and cooling (HSPF 8.5, SEER 14). In addition, ductwork must be sealed to minimum program standards and tested by the installing contractor to ensure that it meets program standards.

High-efficiency clothes washers
If you purchase a high-efficiency clothes washer, you may be eligible for a rebate of between $50 and $100, depending on the Modified Efficiency Factor (MEF) of the model you purchase.  For a list of qualifying models and their MEF ratings, visit www.washwiserebate.com
