Our Cool Rebates Program gives businesses the chance to save money when purchasing qualified energy-efficient commercial solid-door refrigerators and freezers.
Commercial refrigerators today use more than twice the energy compared with their residential counterparts. By replacing your old commercial refrigerator with a new one, you can save energy and money:
- SuperSaver refrigerators offer savings of 50 percent or greater
- SuperSaver freezers offer savings between 35 and 38 percent
Based on kWh savings analysis provided by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.
Qualified Equipment
Energy-efficient SuperSaver refrigerators and freezers are eligible for a Cool Rebate. Glass-door units, vending machines, ice makers, beverage merchandisers, and walk-in refrigerators and freezers do not qualify. Energy-efficiency specifications are being developed for these other types of packaged refrigeration.
Specifications for the highest efficiency refrigerators and freezers - Tier 2 - have been established by the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE). We're marketing these CEE Tier 2 units as SuperSaver machines.

ENERGY STAR refrigerators and freezers no longer qualify for rebates because they are now required by the Washington State code as of 2007.
Eligible service areas
Refrigeration equipment must be installed in the service territories of Seattle City Light, Puget Sound Energy, Snohomish Public Utility District, or Tacoma Power. To find out if you are located in Tacoma Power's service area, call (253) 502-8619.
