The Public Records Officer or designee will describe why each withheld record or redacted portion of a record is exempt from disclosure.

Other Statutes
Examples of exemptions from public disclosure include:
- Tacoma Public Utilities will NOT disclose lists of individuals for commercial purposes.
- Information regarding the infrastructure and security of computer and telecommunications networks to the extent they identify specific system vulnerabilities.
- The residential addresses and residential telephone numbers of the customers of a public utility contained in the records or lists held by the public utility of which they are customers;
- Records pending court or administrative action, for which charges have not been filed;
- Information that identifies a complainant, witness or victim who requests nondisclosure;
- Preliminary drafts, notes, recommendations and intra-agency memorandums not publicly cited by the agency in connection with any agency action;
- Records or sections of records that invade a person's right to privacy;
- Specific agency personnel records;
- Records relating to current investigation;
- Specific locations of historical and archaeological sites;
- Specific data regarding valuation of real estate appraisals;
- Information regarding agency personnel and volunteers, such as home phone numbers, addresses and employment applications;
- Social security numbers;
- Certain investigative records;
- Data, the disclosure or information of which if disclosed could result in private gain and/or public loss; and
- Information whose release would constitute an invasion of privacy as defined by RCW 42.56.050.
